When to Replace Your Furnace
All City Heat and Air • January 15, 2019

Furnaces are far from immortal. If you take good care of it, your furnace will last considerably longer than a neglected one, but, unfortunately, it still will not last forever. Here are some signs you might want to start looking for a replacement furnace:

It’s Old .

Furnaces generally last 15 to 20 years.   Afterwards, they start to have more issues than they’re worth. If you know your furnace is 20 plus years old, you should at least start looking for a new one. That way, when your furnace fails, you’ll already have a replacement plan in place.

It’s Costing You an Arm and a Leg.

As furnaces age, they become less and less efficient, especially when compared to newer furnaces. If your gas or electric bills are climbing too high, it might be time to swap out your furnace for a more efficient one.

It’s Getting Too Loud.

Furnaces usually make some noise, but when they age they often make loud banging noises due to internal failures. If your furnace is newer and makes loud noises, this could be due to sediment buildup, in which case you should contact one of our All City Heat & Air technicians.

It’s Not Doing Its Job.

When furnaces start to give out, they may do a poor job of heating your home. If this is the case, find yourself a new furnace fast.

You Have to Get It Repaired Frequently.

The older a furnace is, the harder it is to maintain. If you find yourself scheduling repairs and buying replacement parts more than once every year, find a new furnace.

Your House Has Become Noticeably Stuffier.

Besides warming the air, furnaces cleanse and add humidity to it. When they start to lose their touch, the air becomes dustier. People with sensitive allergies or asthma may have respiratory issues.

If a few or more of these symptoms apply to your furnace, call All City Heat & Air at 704-545-2000. We’d be happy to install a brand new furnace in your Charlotte, NC, home.
